NANA REGIONAL CORPORATION
ENERGY PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Project Goals
NANA Regional Corporation is currently coordinating three village and energy initiatives, including:

  1. NANA Strategic Energy Plan (SEP). The goal of the NANA SEP is improved NANA Region energy security through strategic energy planning and improved understanding of available energy options.
  2. NANA Geothermal Assessment Program (GAP). The goal of the NANA GAP is to ascertain the feasibility of geothermal power generation for communities in the NANA Region.
  3. NANA Wind Resource Assessment Program (WRAP). The goal of the NANA WRAP is to ascertain the feasibility of wind potential in NANA Region sub-regional communities.

Strategic Objectives

  1. Increased collaboration between NANA Region stakeholders on energy policy
  2. Increased understanding of energy options available to communities
  3. Increased awareness and understanding of NANA Region energy needs on the part of external stakeholders.
  4. Ascertain geothermal feasibility potential for power generation in the NANA Region through a geo-scientific field program
  5. Identification of wind monitoring sites and initiate wind data collection.

NANA is the regional Native corporation for the northwest Arctic region.

The Northwest Arctic Borough is the governing body for the region.

The NANA region encompasses 38,000 square miles, an area approximately the same size as the state of Indiana.
